FRIEND OF YOUTH NOMINATIONS
The Marlette Board of Education is seeking nominations for the 2022 “Friend of Youth”. The intent of this award is to honor someone from the community who has made a special contribution to youth and youth programs. The person chosen by the Board will be honored at the Thumb Meet of Champions on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Girls Basketball at Sandusky has been cancelled tonight, Feb 17. All afterschool athletic events have been cancelled EXCEPT varsity team practices. The Varsity Girls game at Sandusky will be played Feb 18 at 6 p.m. The Boys Varsity team will play after the Varsity Girls game.

Marlette Elementary Young Fives students celebrated the 100th day of school with some fun activities. Each child took home a Ziplock bag and brought it back to school filled with 100 things. The children also made 100’s Day necklaces and attempted to eat a sucker by licking it 100 times.
Jesse Jansen, a 10th grader, wrote a terrific introduction on his research paper with a great topic!
A reminder to parents of students in grades 7-12 that parent/teacher conferences will be held virtually this Thursday, February 17 from 5-7 PM. Parents can sign up for a virtual time slot between 5-7 PM with their student’s teachers via Skyward Family Access. Parents who sign up for a time slot will receive an email from the teacher with the link to join the conference at their scheduled time.
Ms. Mata's art class has been working on creating fabulous masks. The designs are admirable and certainly reflect artistic talent.

This year, Paula McElroy applied for a STEM grant through the LL Foundation. The grant for $15,000.00 was awarded to our district and is renewable for the same amount for the next two years for a total of $45,000.00! The grant will be used this year to fund technology for the Engineering Club and for class. In addition to competition expenses, the monies will help purchase robotics supplies, a new 3-D printer, an oscilloscope, industrial electrical meters, and additional Engineering supplies that can also be used in our science classes.
Each week, the Elementary Wellness team has a random gift card drawing for different departments in our district. The winners thus far have been part of the transportation department, food services, paraprofessionals, and office staff. Thank you winners for your dedication to our Marlette Community Schools. Congrats to Deanna King, Carlen Rye, Cindy Rutherford, and Melissa Klatzke.
