Gayle's Trail

Marlette Elementary School students are eagerly getting ready to participate in the upcoming Gayle’s Trail 19th Annual Walk/Run event, scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, June 4th. This event encourages students to raise a $10 donation to support the upkeep and enhancement of the Trail, ensuring it remains a beautiful and inviting space for all. In addition to contributing to a great cause, for every $10 donation, a student’s name will be entered into a drawing for fantastic prizes. Furthermore, students who run or walk the most significant distance will be honored with well-deserved medals for their efforts.

The origins of Gayle’s Trail date back to August 2005, when it was conceived to promote the health and wellness of the Marlette Community Schools’ students, staff, and the broader community. Since then, through the collaborative efforts of the school and the local community, it has blossomed into the beautifully landscaped and paved Trail we know today. Recent enhancements such as the resurfacing of the Trail and the addition of a Story Walk, offering young readers the opportunity to enjoy a story at 20 different spots along the Trail, have further enriched the experience for all. Your donations have made these enhancements possible, and we are deeply grateful for your support.

Gayle’s Trail holds a special significance as it is named in loving memory of Mr. Gordon Miller’s late wife, Gayle, who had a deep fondness for walking. We are immensely grateful to Mr. Miller and his family for their pivotal role in the development of the Trail through their generous donations. Their contributions have not only enriched the Trail but also our community.

Throughout the day, one can always find individuals from the school and the local community walking and running along the Trail. Any donations, be it from school or community members, are immensely valued as they go towards maintaining and enhancing the Trail that holds a special place in the hearts of many. Contributions can be sent to Marlette Elementary School/Gayle’s Trail, 6230 Euclid St., Marlette, MI. 48453, or dropped off at the Marlette Elementary School office. All checks should be payable to Marlette Elementary School/Gayle’s Trail.
